Main Page ar
I want to make Arabic version of the Main Page, how do I name it ? 'Main Page ar' or what? also is it possible to make a link to the Arabic page in the left panel as in Wikipedia or would it be better to be just a link at the top of the English page?
Try to name it in arabic. If somebody wants a new name I wil redirect. --Djihed 02:57, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
It is الصفحة_الرئيسية now ... --Alnokta 00:53, 6 October 2006 (PDT)
Requesting an account
I've specifically asked to request accounts by contacting my email address directly to remove the confusing multiple options that are available. There ought to be one definite way of requesting an account, until we agree what that is the info is there.
That is fine as long as you answer account requests promptly... I will reflect that in the Arabic page... --Alnokta 10:21, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
New Box title
If you think you have a better title for the box, please let me know. I wanted to highlight the areas arabeyes works in, with quick links to let potential members identify with what they can do. The direct link to Administration will hopefully aid in showing that Arabeyes administration is transparent to members: an issue of much debate. --Djihed 07:26, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
I like this greeny nifty box, though I was kind of used to the links down the page. looks good... --Alnokta 15:00, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
Why did you remove 'Misc Index' reference or lonely pages? --Alnokta 11:01, 21 October 2006 (PDT)
You can add the special page version instead (orphaned pages) --Djihed 08:10, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
All right...--Alnokta 10:28, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
As we are going to translate more pages, I think we should consider using interwiki for this. So we'll simply be able to use things like [[ar:الصفحة الرئيسية]] which'll trigger the "other languages" menu instead of being displayed in the main page itself. Also we can use it for linking to other wiki's by simply typing the name of target article instead of the complete URL, things like [[wb:Gnome]] and [[awb:جنوم]] as an example of linking to English an Arabic wikipedias. Here is the instructions to setup interwiki in mediawiki. --Hosny 06:52, 15 November 2006 (PST) +1 for Hosny 's suggestion, --Chahibi 08:41, 20 November 2006 (PST) I second that, though I think the other part is more important(easier linking between wikis) than first one...--Alnokta 07:39, 15 November 2006 (PST) ]
- I can say that now I can add interwiki links. Which would you like to see? --Djihed 20:16, 23 December 2006 (PST)
